Atmospheric plasma sprayed (APS) coatings of Al2O3–TiO2 system for photocatalytic application

Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences, 2009
The goal of this study is to examine the photocatalytic ability of coatings produced by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). The plasma gun used is a common gas-stabilized plasma gun (GSP) working with a d.c. current and a mixture of argon and hydrogen as plasma-forming gas.

Comparison of Silicon Coatings Deposited by Vacuum Plasma Spraying (VPS) & Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS)

Materials Science Forum, 2006
In this work, silicon coatings were deposited using VPS and APS technologies. Their structure and composition were characterized using XPS, SEM, and XRD. The porosity and surface-roughness of coatings were evaluated. The results showed that the VPS silicon coating possessed lower porosity compared with the APS silicon coating.

Tribological Behaviour of Abradable Coatings Obtained by Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS)

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2001
Abstract Actually abradable coatings obtained by thermal spraying are currently used in aeronautical industry. They improve the turbines tightness increasing in that way, their yield. The most relevant property of this kind of coatings is its easy machinability.

Physical Characteristics of Alumina Coating Using Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS) and Low Pressure Plasma Spraying (VPS)

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2004
Abstract Physical characteristics of Atmospheric Plasma Sprayed (APS) Alumina coating and Low Pressure Plasma Sprayed (VPS) Alumina coating were investigated. High purity Alumina powder was used for thermal spraying in this test. As electrical properties, the volume resistivity, dielectric constant, and the dielectric breakdown voltage ...

Influence of Microstructure on Thermal and Optical Properties of Suspension Plasma Sprayed (SPS) and Atmospheric Plasma Sprayed (APS) Coatings

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2008
Abstract Normally the conventional thermal spray processes as the atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) have to use easily flowable powders in a size range between 10 and 100 µm. In contrast the suspension plasma spraying (SPS) makes it possible to process nano sized particles directly.

Fast Regime-Fluidized Bed Machining (FR-FBM) of Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS) TiO2 coatings

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2008
Abstract This paper deals with the development and application of a new technique, Fast Regime-Fluidized Bed Machining (FR-FBM), for the easy-to-automate finishing of as-deposited Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS) TiO 2 coatings on AISI 1040 steel substrates.

A model of the interface between plasma jet simulation and the simulation of coating formation during atmospheric plasma spraying (APS)

Journal de Physique IV, 2004
The atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) process can be divided into sub-processes, which are simulated by different numerical methods. The balance equations of momentum, mass and energy of the plasma jet are solved numerically by applying the finite volume method (FVM) using a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software tool.

Tribological Features of Self-Lubricated Coatings Obtained by Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS)

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2002
Abstract This study analyzes the tribological behavior of nickel-graphite and aluminum-silicon-polyester thermal sprayed coatings and the effect of non-metallic compounds. Self-lubricating coating composites based on a metallic matrix with ceramic or polymeric filler phases show potential applications requiring high wear resistance and ...

Manufacturing of high performance solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) with atmospheric plasma spraying (APS)

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2007
Abstract The potential of atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) technology has been investigated for the manufacture of anode, electrolyte and cathode of a solid oxide fuel cell. As the substrate a tape-casted FeCr alloy was used. It turned out that all layers can be applied by this technique, however, the APS cathode layer, although applied by ...
