EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Microcell atomic clock using laser current-actuated power modulation with 10−12 range stability at 1 day

open access: yesScientific Reports
We present a coherent-population trapping (CPT) microcell atomic clock using symmetric auto-balanced Ramsey (SABR) spectroscopy. The pulsed SABR sequence is applied through direct current-based power modulation of the vertical-cavity surface-emitting ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Measurement of the magnetic field profile in the atomic fountain clock FoCS-2 using Zeeman spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We report the evaluation of the second-order Zeeman shift in the continuous atomic fountain clock FoCS-2. Because of its continuous operation and geometrical constraints, the methods used in pulsed fountains are not applicable.

Long-Term Stability Improvements of the Miniature Atomic Clock Through Enhanced Thermal Environmental Control

open access: yesSensors
Advancement of compact atomic clocks has centered on reducing footprint and power consumption. Such developments come at the cost of the clock’s stability performance.

Shrinking Atomic Clocks [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2013
Physics Atomic clocks housed in national laboratories around the world provide a precise time signal on which our present high-technology lives depend. Precise synchronization allows for colossal amounts of data to be reliably transferred around networks of optic fibers at ever-increasing rates, as well as providing accurate navigation systems.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Time in the theory of relativity: on natural clocks, proper time, the clock hypothesis, and all that [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When addressing the notion of proper time in the theory of relativity, it is usually taken for granted that the time read by an accelerated clock is given by the Minkowski proper time.
