State- and event-based refinement [PDF]
In this paper we give simple example abstract data types, with atomic operations, that are related by data refinement under a definition used widely in the literature, but these abstract data types are not related by singleton failure refinement.

We analyze the prospects of employing a distributed global network of precision measurement devices as a dark matter and exotic physics observatory. In particular, we consider the atomic clocks of the Global Positioning System (GPS), consisting of a ...

Meson and Quark Degrees of Freedom and the Radius of the Deuteron [PDF]
The existing experimental data for the deuteron charge radius are discussed. The data of elastic electron scattering are inconsistent with the value obtained in a recent atomic physics experiment.

MYCN Amplification in RB1‐Inactivated Retinoblastoma: Association With High‐Risk Features
ABSTRACT Background MYCN amplification occurs in a subset of retinoblastoma cases, both with and without RB1 inactivation. It has been suggested that retinoblastomas with MYCN amplification represent a distinct entity with more aggressive clinical behavior.

Evaluation of gamma-ray strength function based on measured gamma-ray pulse-height spectra in time-of-flight neutron capture experiments [PDF]
In order to develop an evaluation method of gamma-ray strength function (GSF), neutron capture pulse-height (PH) spectrum of gold was employed, where it was measured with the NaI(Tl) spectrometer of AN-NRI installed at the Material and Life Science ...

Discrepancies in Atomic Data and Suggestions for their Resolutions
The analysis and modelling of a range of plasmas (for example: astrophysical, laser-produced and fusion), require atomic data for a number of parameters, such as energy levels, radiative rates and electron impact excitation rates, or equivalently the ...

Atomic data for astrophysics: Fe IX [PDF]
We present the results of a new large-scale intermediate-coupling frame transformation R-matrix scattering calculation for electron collisional excitation of Fe ix. The target includes all the main configurations up to n = 5, to improve our earlier R-matrix and distorted-wave (DW) calculations for the n = 3,4 levels.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Nuclear effects in atomic transitions
Atomic electrons are sensitive to the properties of the nucleus they are bound to, such as nuclear mass, charge distribution, spin, magnetization distribution, or even excited level scheme.
