Reliability Assessment of NPP Safety Class Equipment Considering the Manufacturing Quality Assurance Process

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Engineering, 2023
Quality and safety are intensely related and go hand in hand. Quality of the safety-grade equipment is very important for the safety of a nuclear power plant (NPP) and achieving production goals.

Magneto-Optical Cooling of Atoms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We propose an alternative method to laser cooling. Our approach utilizes the extreme brightness of a supersonic atomic beam, and the adiabatic atomic coilgun to slow atoms in the beam or to bring them to rest. We show how internal-state optical pumping and stimulated optical transitions, combined with magnetic forces can be used to cool the ...

A Sub-5mW Evanescent Field Atom Guide with Nanofibers towards Guided Atom Interferometry with Membrane Waveguides [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Great progress has been made in the field of quantum inertial sensors, from the laboratory to the real-world use, which will ultimately require sensor miniaturization and ruggedization for dynamic motion. However, lateral atomic movement with respect to the sensing axis limits inertial sensing, which inspires the atom guides to ensure transverse atomic

An optical lattice on an atom chip [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters 34, 3463 (2009), 2009
Optical dipole traps and atom chips are two very powerful tools for the quantum manipulation of neutral atoms. We demonstrate that both methods can be combined by creating an optical lattice potential on an atom chip. A red-detuned laser beam is retro-reflected using the atom chip surface as a high-quality mirror, generating a vertical array of purely ...

Ultrafast Rabi oscillation of a Gaussian atom ensemble [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate Rabi oscillation of an atom ensemble in Gaussian spatial distribution. By using the ultrafast laser interaction with the cold atomic rubidium vapor spatially confined in a magneto-optical trap, the oscillatory behavior of the atom excitation is probed as a function of the laser pulse power. Theoretical model calculation predicts that the

Self-Channeling of High-Power Long-Wave Infrared Pulses in Atomic Gases.

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
We simulate and elucidate the self-channeling of high-power 10  μm infrared pulses in atomic gases. The major new result is that the peak intensity can remain remarkably stable over many Rayleigh ranges.

Bohmian mechanics to high-order harmonic generation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper introduces Bohmian mechanics (BM) into the intense laser-atom physics to study high-order harmonic generation. In BM, the trajectories of atomic electrons in intense laser field can be obtained with the Bohm-Newton equation. The power spectrum with the trajectory of an atomic electron is calculated, which is found to be irregular.
