Recent verification activities on probabilistic fracture mechanics analysis code PASCAL4 for reactor pressure vessel

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2020
Probabilistic fracture mechanics (PFM) is considered a promising methodology in assessing the integrity of structural components in nuclear power plants because it can rationally represent the influence parameters in their probabilistic distributions ...

A Miniature Cold-Atom Frequency Standard [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Atomic sensors employing cold-atom technology enable unprecedented accuracy and resolution for next generation atomic clocks, magnetometers, gravimeters, and gyroscopes. To date, however, the size and complexity of cold atom systems have prevented their deployment in practical applications outside of large research laboratories.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Evaluation of synaptotagmin‐1 action models by all‐atom molecular dynamics simulations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We used molecular dynamics simulations to test models proposing that synaptotagmin‐1 facilitates membrane fusion by perturbing lipid bilayers, inducing membrane curvature and/or bridging membranes. The simulations show that synaptotagmin‐1 C2‐domains placed near the site of fusion hinder the ability of SNARE complexes to bring the membranes together ...

Pharmacological effects of osimertinib on a chicken chorioallantoic membrane xenograft model with the EGFR exon‐19‐deleted advanced NSCLC mutation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...

Atoms and associated spectral properties for positive operators on L^p [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Inspired by Schwartz, Jang-Lewis and Victory, who study in particular generalizations of triangularizations of matrices to operators, we shall give for positive operators on Lebesgue spaces equivalent definitions of atoms (maximal irreducible sets). We also characterize positive power compact operators having a unique non-zero atom which appears as a ...

Red blood cells could protect miRNAs from degradation or loss thanks to Argonaute 2 binding

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The present work investigates the presence and the stability of miRNAs into RBCs, both native and engineered. The observed stability is due to the Ago2 bound resulting in minimal RISC. Indeed, if the miRNA‐Ago2 complex is present, miRNAs are protected from release or degradation and they are biologically active. Thus, RBCs can act as miRNA carriers for

Characterisation of the role played by ELMO1, GPR141 and the intergenic polymorphism rs918980 in Fuchs' dystrophy in the Indian population

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study reports the upregulation of ELMO1 and GPR141 in human Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) corneal endothelium and ultraviolet A‐induced FECD mice model. A genetic association of an intergenic single nucleotide polymorphism rs918980 present between both genes is observed with FECD in the Indian population.
