Systematically convergent method for accurate total energy calculations with localized atomic orbitals

open access: yes, 2010
We introduce a method for solving a self consistent electronic calculation within localized atomic orbitals, that allows us to converge to the complete basis set (CBS) limit in a stable, controlled, and systematic way.

Improved droplet breakup models for spray applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The current study examines the performance of two zero-dimensional (0D) aerodynamically-induced breakup models, utilized for the prediction of droplet deformation during the breakup process in the bag, multi-mode and sheet-thinning regimes.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Secondary atomization behavior and size distribution of emulsified fuel in spray flow under N2

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
In this study, secondary atomization of emulsified fuel spray was visualized, and the effect of ambient temperature on secondary atomization in spray flow was investigated.

The limitations of Slater's element-dependent exchange functional from analytic density functional theory

open access: yes, 2005
Our recent formulation of the analytic and variational Slater-Roothaan (SR) method, which uses Gaussian basis sets to variationally express the molecular orbitals, electron density and the one body effective potential of density functional theory, is ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Atom chips

open access: yesConference Digest. 2000 International Quantum Electronics Conference (Cat. No.00TH8504), 2005
Atoms can be trapped and guided using nano-fabricated wires on surfaces, achieving the scales required by quantum information proposals. These Atom Chips form the basis for robust and widespread applications of cold atoms ranging from atom optics to fundamental questions in mesoscopic physics, and possibly quantum information systems.

Prediction of the Atomization Energy of Molecules Using Coulomb Matrix and Atomic Composition in a Bayesian Regularized Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2019
Exact calculation of electronic properties of molecules is a fundamental step for intelligent and rational compounds and materials design. The intrinsically graph-like and non-vectorial nature of molecular data generates a unique and challenging machine ...

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...
