Melanopsin‐Mediated Post‐Illumination Pupillary Response in Idiopathic Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep Behavior Disorder and Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims To conduct a case–control study to investigate melanopsin‐mediated post‐illumination pupillary response (PIPR) in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), video‐polysomnography‐confirmed isolated/idiopathic rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (iRBD), and age‐matched healthy controls (HC). Methods PIPR was measured at 6 s after

Statin Exposure and Survival Outcomes in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in an Asian Cohort

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Data from Asian cohorts on whether statin therapy affects amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) progression are limited. We examined whether statin exposure was associated with ALS disease duration or tracheostomy‐free survival in a multiethnic Asian ALS cohort.

Toxicity of Atorvastatin on Isolated Brain Mitochondria: Neurotoxicity of Atorvastatin

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Although the bio kinetics, metabolism and chemical toxicity of Atorvastatin are well known, until recently little attention was paid to the potential neurotoxic effect of Atorvastatin (Atv). Regarding the concrete evidences indicating Atv may

The nitty‐gritty of vascular permeability in cancer: targeting blood endothelium to control metastases

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Blood vascular permeability is a hallmark of cancer and acts as an active driver of metastatic dissemination. Metastasis accounts for the vast majority of cancer deaths, yet most work has focussed on tumour‐intrinsic traits and angiogenesis, while the specific contribution of endothelial barrier regulation to intravasation and extravasation remains ...
