ATP binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) is a member of the ATP-binding cassette transporter family. It plays an essential role in mediating the efflux of excess cholesterol. It is known that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) promoted ABCA1 expression.

We have cloned the full-length cDNA for the human ATP binding cassette transporter 1 (hABC1). The 6603-bp open reading frame encodes a polypeptide of 2201 amino acids resulting in a deduced molecular weight of 220 kDa. The hABC1 cDNA is highly homologous (62%) to the human rim ABC transporter (ABCR).

The overexpression of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters often leads to the development of multidrug resistance (MDR), which is the major factor contributing to the failure of chemotherapy. The objective of this study was to investigate the enhancement of CEP-33779, a small-molecule inhibitor of Janus kinase 2 (JAK2), on the efficacy of ...

[Relationship between ATP-binding cassette transporter 1 R219K genetic variation and blood lipids].
Zhonghua yi xue za zhi, 2005To investigate whether ATP-binding cassette transporter 1 (ABCA1) R219K genetic variation is correlated with blood lipids.Specimens of peripheral blood were collected from 692 patients with cerebral apoplexy, aged 62 +/- aged 12, and 352 sex- and age-matched persons without cardio-cerebro-vascular disease. Polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragments

ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) in pancreatic beta cells influences insulin secretion and cholesterol homeostasis. The present study investigates whether insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), which mediates stimulation of ABCA1 gene expression, could also interfere with the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3-K) cascade.ABCA1 expression was ...

ATP-binding cassette transporter 1 (ABCA1) gene polymorphism has been reported as one of the genetic risk factors for T2DM in various populations with conflicting results. The aim of this study is to investigate the association of ABCA1 C69T polymorphism and lipid profile with T2DM in Bangladeshi population.A total of 102 T2DM subjects and 98 healthy ...

Midkine (MK) has been shown to facilitate atherosclerotic plaque formation by downregulating the expression of ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1). However, the mechanism by which MK regulates ABCA1 to promote atherosclerosis remains incompletely understood.
