Mexican Freshwater Fish: Identifying Conservation Priorities and High‐Risk Areas for Fisheries Under Climate Change

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Freshwater fish are essential components of aquatic ecosystems, providing key ecological functions and supporting livelihoods. Climate change poses a significant threat to freshwater biodiversity; consequently, both its conservation and the food security it sustains may be at risk.

Novel Endogenous Probiotics Enhance Host Intestinal Health, Liver Immune Capacity, Meat Nutritional Composition, and Aquatic Environmental Quality in Pelodiscus sinensis

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Currently, the in‐depth research and practical application of probiotics in the green and healthy breeding of Chinese soft‐shelled turtles (Pelodiscus sinensis) remain limited. This study conducted a 30‐day feeding trial with turtles of an initial weight of 528.95 ± 2.96 g. The aim was to evaluate the effects of three endogenous probiotics—Enterococcus

A Terrestrial Thermometer Using Carbonate Clumped Isotopes From Gar Scales

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract We present a new clumped isotope calibration relating temperature to the Δ47 composition of the bioapatite scales of gar fish (Lepisosteidae family). Modern gars live at <∼3 m depth in rivers and lakes, are non‐migratory, and their scales grow continuously over their lifespan (∼8–14 years).
