Alfalfa’s response to atrazine stress and its secreted atrazine metabolites

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2022
Although listed as endocrine disruptor compounds, atrazine (ATZ) is still used in large quantities in agricultural production. Here, alfalfa seedling was cultivated in hydroponic media to investigate the toxic effects of ATZ on alfalfa and accumulation of ATZ in tissues of different plant parts. Alfalfa had a strong upward translocation ability to ATZ.

Sensitivity of freshwater periphytic diatoms to agricultural herbicides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The biomonitoring of pesticide pollution in streams and rivers using algae such as diatoms remains difficult. The responses of diatomcommunities to toxic stress in streamwater are disturbed by the variations of environmental parameters.

Of Frogs & Rhetoric: The Atrazine Wars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In a scientific dispute over the effects of atrazine on amphibians, chemical industry–funded and publically funded scientists present stunningly contrasting constructions of atrazine\u27s environmental concentrations, persistence, and potential to harm ...

Potencial alelopático de 2-benzoxazolinona (boa) e sua interação com atrazine no crescimento de plantas Allelopathic potential of 2-benzoxazolinone (boa) and its interactions with atrazine on lant growth

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 1994

Effects of endocrine-disrupting chemical exposure on zebrafish ovarian follicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The process of oocyte maturation involves both nuclear and cytoplasmic events that are essential for the production of viable eggs and subsequent fertilization in sexually reproducing animals.

Herbicide mixtures at high doses slow the evolution of resistance in experimentally evolving populations of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The widespread evolution of resistance to herbicides is a pressing issue in global agriculture. Evolutionary principles and practices are key to the management of this threat to global food security.

Weed Management Programs in Grain Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor)

open access: yesAgriculture, 2019
A field study was conducted in Arkansas over three years to evaluate various herbicide treatments, including sequential and tank-mix applications for weed control in grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor). The herbicide treatments used were quinclorac, atrazine

Mutagenic impact on fish of runoff events in agricultural areas in south-west France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
When heavy rainfall follows herbicide application, the intense surface runoff causes stream water contamination. Aquatic organisms are then briefly exposed to a complex mixture of contaminants.

Short-term response of soil enzymatic activities and respiration to atrazine in fluvio-aquic soil in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain

open access: yesGuan'gai paishui xuebao
【Objective】Atrazine is a widely used herbicide whose ecological impacts on fluvio-aquic soils remain insufficiently understood. This study aims to evaluate the effects of atrazine on soil biogeochemical properties and to identify sensitive biomarkers ...

Integrating transcriptome, rhizosphere microbiome, and exosome microRNA analyses unravels the response of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) to atrazine stress

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Atrazine is widely used to control weeds in crop production. However, residual atrazine in the soil causes phytotoxicity to subsequent tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) in the cereal crop-tobacco rotation system. The regulatory mechanisms on the response of
