Attenuation Correction Using Mellin Transform
1985It has been shown 1 that the incidence of attenuation in ultrasonic propagation within tissue can be considered as an integral transformation of acoustical signals. This transformation is known among the mathematician as a “Mellin-convolution”.

Attenuation Correction: Practical Considerations
1996Because positron emission tomography (PET) utilizes high-energy (511 keV) photons, it is often thought that attenuation effects in PET, compared with single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), are small. This belief is incorrect. In fact, the effects of attenuation are to some extent more severe in PET than with 99mTc-labeled compounds.

Corrections to the attenuation constants of piston attenuators
Proceedings of the IEE - Part III: Radio and Communication Engineering, 1949The modes existing in a circular waveguide with walls of finite conductivity are investigated and expressions derived for the corrections to the attenuation constant of a piston attenuator. The correction is negligible for E-modes but may be of importance in work of the highest accuracy when H-modes are used.
