Spacecraft Relative Attitude Determination [PDF]

open access: yes2010 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2010
A method to determine the relative attitudes between three spacecraft is developed. 1 2 The method requires four direction measurements between the three spacecraft. The simulation results and covariance analysis show that the method's error falls within a three sigma boundary without exhibiting any singularity issues.

A Tutorial on Horizon-Based Optical Navigation and Attitude Determination With Space Imaging Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Images of a nearby celestial body collected by a camera on an exploration spacecraft contain a wealth of actionable information. This work considers how the apparent location of the observed body’s horizon in a digital image may be used to infer ...

Attitude determination and control for centrifugal tether deployment on the ESTCube-1 nanosatellite; pp. 242–249 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2014
This paper presents the design, development, and pre-launch characterization of the ESTCube-1 Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS). The design driver for the ADCS has been the mission requirement to spin up the satellite to 360 deg × s–1 ...
