Attitude feedback tracking with optimal attitude state estimation

Proceedings of the 2010 American Control Conference, 2010
This paper presents an estimator-based attitude tracking control scheme that uses feedback of attitude and angular velocity estimates constructed by an optimal state estimation scheme. The tracking control scheme gives almost global convergence to a desired attitude and angular velocity profile with perfect state feedback.

IMage-based satellite attitude estimation

2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
Pushbroom sensors are widely used for earth observation from space; this camera captures 1-D image and uses straight motion of the satellite to build a 2-D image. Yet, attitude variations of the satellite during the aquisition process can lead to significant distortions in the 2-D image.

Standby attitude estimation

IEEE 2000. Position Location and Navigation Symposium (Cat. No.00CH37062), 2002
In most military aircraft an inertial navigation system (INS) is the main source for attitude and heading data. Aircraft attitude and heading are important quantities, and in the case of a failure in the INS, backup values are needed. We here present how these can be calculated using other sensors in the aircraft.

Inertial Velocity and Attitude Estimation for Quadrotors

2018 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2018
This work addresses the design and implementation of a filter that estimates the orientation of the body-fixed $z$ axis and the velocity of a quadrotor UAV from the inertial measurement unit (IMU)given a known yaw. The velocity and attitude estimation is possible since the filter employs a linear drag model measuring the drag forces on the quadrotor ...

Quadrotor attitude estimation with data losses

2009 European Control Conference (ECC), 2009
This paper deals with the attitude estimation of a quadrotor in the presence of measurement losses. This situation may appear when the quadrotor is controlled through a network. The attitude estimation is a prerequisite to the implementation of any kind of control law.

Nonlinear Estimation of the PVTOL Aircraft Attitude

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2004
Abstract In this paper, we construct a nonlinear observer for the PVTOL aircraft considering that the angular position is not measurable. The observer design is based on the assumption that the horizontal position is the only available measure. A control strategy which takes into account input constraints imposed by the nonlinear observer is then ...

Nonlinear Geometric Estimation for Satellite Attitude

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 2008
A novel algorithm for efficient high-accuracy satellite attitude estimation is presented to address the increasing performance requirements of resource-constrained small satellites. The algorithm results from an investigation of the Bayesian nonlinear estimation problem based on the phase-space geometry of Hamiltonian systems.

A multiplicative filter for GLMAV attitude estimation

2013 European Control Conference (ECC), 2013
In this paper the authors investigate the problem of attitude estimation applied to the Gun Launched Micro Aerial Vehicle (GLMAV), using low cost sensors. The main contribution of the paper consists in the design of a sliding window filter for quaternion estimation.

Attitude estimation and control of manoeuvring spacecraft

Automatica, 1985
An application of modern model-following control and estimation techniques to the attitude control of high performance, manoeuvring spacecraft emphasizes their usefulness as shown by results from both software simulations and in-flight experiments.
