Development and characterisation of traceable force measurement for nanotechnology [PDF]
Traceable low force metrology should be an essential tool for nanotechnology. Traceable measurement of micro- and nanonewton forces would allow independent measurement and comparison on material properties, MEMS behaviour and nanodimensional ...

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

High-Resolution Imaging of Antibodies by Tapping-Mode Atomic Force Microscopy: Attractive and Repulsive Tip-Sample Interaction Regimes [PDF]
A force microscope operated with an amplitude modulation feedback (usually known as tapping-mode atomic force microscope) has two tip-sample interaction regimes, attractive and repulsive. We have studied the performance of those regimes to imaging single

Simulation of Wear in Involute Micro Gear
In order to further study the microscopic wear mechanisms of micro gear,by using the classical Archard wear equation, combining with JKR(Johnson K L,Kendall K,Roberts A D) theory and GW(Greenwood and Williamson) rough surface model,a simulation model of ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Chaotic oscillation in an attractive Bose-Einstein condensate under an impulsive force [PDF]
The chaotic oscillation in an attractive Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) under an impulsive force was discussed using mean-field Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation.

Dark Energy and Dark Matter from Emergent Gravity Picture
We suggest that dark energy and dark matter may be a cosmic uroboros of quantum gravity due to the coherent vacuum structure of spacetime. We apply the emergent gravity to a large N matrix model by considering the vacuum in the noncommutative (NC ...

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
