Self-force of a point charge in the space-time of a symmetric wormhole

open access: yes, 2007
We consider the self-energy and the self-force for an electrically charged particle at rest in the wormhole space-time. We develop general approach and apply it to two specific profiles of the wormhole throat with singular and with smooth curvature.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

The Grounds For Time Dependent Market Potentials From Dealers' Dynamics

open access: yes, 2007
We apply the potential force estimation method to artificial time series of market price produced by a deterministic dealer model. We find that dealers' feedback of linear prediction of market price based on the latest mean price changes plays the ...

Self force on particle in orbit around a black hole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We study the self force acting on a scalar charge in uniform circular motion around a Schwarzschild black hole. The analysis is based on a direct calculation of the self force via mode decomposition, and on a regularization procedure based on Ori's mode ...

Role of attractive forces in tapping tip force microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 1997
We present experimental and numerical results demonstrating the drastic influence of attractive forces on the behaviour of the atomic force microscope when operated in the resonant tapping tip mode in an ambient environment. It is often assumed that tapping is related to repulsive interaction.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Dynamic double layer force between charged surfaces

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
We develop a theory for the “dynamic double layer force” between charged surfaces in an electrolyte under a time-dependent voltage. Specifically, the force between two planar surfaces is calculated within the Poisson-Nernst-Planck framework for dilute ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Force measurement using double series magnetic suspension

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
Double Series magnetic suspension is applied to force measurement. In a double series magnetic suspension system, two floators are suspended with a single electromagnet. The attractive force of the electromagnet directly acts on the first (upper) floator

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.
