The random case of Conley's theorem

open access: yes, 2005
The well-known Conley's theorem states that the complement of chain recurrent set equals the union of all connecting orbits of the flow $\phi$ on the compact metric space $X$, i.e.

Novel and unscrutinized immune entities of the zebrafish gut

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Understudied cells of the zebrafish immune system include bona fide immune cells and epithelial (‐derived) cells with immune functions. Research focusing on zebrafish cells which demonstrate similarities to mammalian immune cell counterparts may help us understand the pathologies in which they are implicated. Currently available and advanced tools make

Fractal Analysis and Time Series Application in ZY-4 SEM Micro Fractographies Evaluation

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2022
SEM microfractographies of Zircaloy-4 are studied by fractal analysis and the time-series method. We first develop a computer application that associates the fractal dimension and lacunarity to each SEM micrograph picture, and produce a nonlinear ...

Attractor Metadynamics in Adapting Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2014
Slow adaption processes, like synaptic and intrinsic plasticity, abound in the brain and shape the landscape for the neural dynamics occurring on substantially faster timescales.

Nonsupersymmetric attractors [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2005
We consider theories with gravity, gauge fields and scalars in four-dimensional asymptotically flat space-time. By studying the equations of motion directly we show that the attractor mechanism can work for non-supersymmetric extremal black holes. Two conditions are sufficient for this, they are conveniently stated in terms of an effective potential ...

RAD50 missense variants differentially affect the DNA damage response and mitotic progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
RAD50 incorporates into the MRN complex and initiates the DNA damage response. Furthermore, RAD50 promotes mitotic progression. RAD50 missense variants capable of forming an MRN complex supported the DNA damage response and mitotic features to different extents in complementation experiments, indicating these functions are separable and might impact ...

Photoplethysmogram beat detection using Symmetric Projection Attractor Reconstruction

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
Many methods have been proposed to detect beats in photoplethysmogram (PPG) signals. We present a novel method which uses the Symmetric Projection Attractor Reconstruction (SPAR) method to generate an attractor in a two dimensional phase space from the ...

Time evolution of companies towards a stable scaling curve obtained from flow diagrams in three-dimensional phase space

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
Although scaling relations of power law forms have been revealed in a wide variety of complex systems, the origin of scaling relations in real systems remains mostly unsolved. Based on a long tradition in physics, we here explore the phase space dynamics

On the uniqueness of supersymmetric attractors

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
In this paper we discuss the uniqueness of supersymmetric attractors in four dimensional N=2 supergravity theories coupled to n vector multiplets. We prove that for a given charge configuration the supersymmetry preserving axion free attractors are unique.

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.
