Attribute-based linear homomorphic signature scheme based on key policy for mobile crowdsensing

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences
Compared with traditional wireless sensor networks, mobile crowdsensing networks have advantages of low cost, easy maintenance, and high scalability, which will play a role in city-level data sensing scenarios in the future.

Small ancestry informative marker panels for complete classification between the original four HapMap populations

open access: yes, 2012
A protocol for the identification of ancestry informative markers (AIMs) from genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) data is proposed. The protocol consists of three main steps: (a) identification of potential positive selection regions via Fst

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Using a chimeric respiratory chain and EPR spectroscopy to determine the origin of semiquinone species previously assigned to mitochondrial complex I

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2020
Background For decades, semiquinone intermediates have been suggested to play an essential role in catalysis by one of the most enigmatic proton-pumping enzymes, respiratory complex I, and different mechanisms have been proposed on their basis.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Fine-Grained and Lightweight Quantum-Resistant Access Control System With Efficient Revocation for IoT Cloud

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in cloud-assisted environments raises urgent concerns regarding fine-grained access control, policy privacy, and resilience against quantum adversaries.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Deep Learning for Land Cover Classification Using Only a Few Bands

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
There is an emerging interest in using hyperspectral data for land cover classification. The motivation behind using hyperspectral data is the notion that increasing the number of narrowband spectral channels would provide richer spectral information and
