Antiglomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease with clinical and histological features that bridge the typical to atypical spectrum

BMJ Case Reports, 2021
We describe antiglomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis and concurrent parainfluenza pneumonia. Circulating anti-GBM antibodies were barely detectable and disappeared rapidly following corticosteroids, cyclophosphamide and plasma exchange.

“Atypical” Anti-GBM Disease: Just Atypical, or Not Anti-GBM Disease at All?

American Journal of Kidney Diseases
Two large cohorts1,2 of patients with “atypical” anti–glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease sharedheterogeneous clinical presentations and a single commoninclusioncriterion—linearIgGstainingalongthe GBM, foundonbiopsy. Indeed,4patientsevendemonstratedanti-GBMantibodies, deemedrelevantforthediagnosisof“typical”anti-GBMdis ease ...

Diagnosis and classification of Goodpasture's disease (anti-GBM) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Autoimmunity, 2014
Goodpasture's disease or anti-glomerular basement membrane disease (anti-GBM-disease) is included among immune complex small vessel vasculitides. The definition of anti-GBM disease is a vasculitis affecting glomerular capillaries, pulmonary capillaries ...

An atypical anti-GBM disease complicated by idiopathic nodular glomerulosclerosis: Case report

Clinical Nephrology, 2023
Both atypical anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease and idiopathic nodular glomerulosclerosis are rare diseases. We report a case of a 53-year-old non-diabetic male who presented with leg edema, nephritic range proteinuria, microscopic hematuria, and decreased renal function.

Anti-GBM disease with a mild relapsing course and low levels of anti-GBM autoantibodies.

open access: yesCKJ: Clinical Kidney Journal, 2012
Anti-glomerular basement membrane disease (anti-GBM) is usually characterized by rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis, and when autoantibody production has ceased, relapses are rare.

Atypical Anti-Glomerular Basement Membrane Nephritis: A Case Series From the French Nephropathology Group

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Kidney Diseases
Atypical anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) nephritis is characterized by a bright linear immunoglobulin staining along the GBM by immunofluorescence without a diffuse crescentic glomerulonephritis nor serum anti-GBM antibodies by conventional ELISA.

Atypical anti-GBM disease in pregnancy

BMJ Case Reports
A woman in her 20s presented with nephrotic syndrome and hyperemesis in early pregnancy. Pertinent initial investigations revealed a severe acute kidney injury, a serum albumin of 19 g/L, a random protein creatinine ratio of 800 g/mol and microscopic haematuria.

Levels of epitope-specific autoantibodies correlate with renal damage in anti-GBM disease.

open access: yesNephrology Dialysis Transplantation, 2009
Background. Although the clinical importance of demonstrating the presence of anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) antibodies is well established, less is known concerning the clinical utility of measuring the levels of autoantibodies.

Plasmapheresis, immunosuppressive therapy and anti-GBM disease prognosis: a cohort study of 107 patients

open access: yesRenal Failure
