Fine and super‐fine gold in mine waste from a coastal placer in southern New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 68, Issue 2, Page 327-341, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Reprocessing of mine wastes is a growing procedure around the world, in order to extract more resources from already‐mined rocks. Mineralogical and geometallurgical investigations are useful for planned reprocessing, and in this study at Round Hill placer gold mine we characterise fine (<100 µm) and super‐fine (micron‐scale) particulate gold ...

Redistribution of fine gold from hydrothermal sources to sedimentary sinks, Rakaia River, Canterbury, New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 68, Issue 2, Page 282-303, June 2025.
ABSTRACT The Rakaia River in the South Island of New Zealand is a unique catchment in which to trace active detrital gold transport, deformation and concentration from near‐coeval orogenic sources. The catchment hosts widespread small late Cenozoic hydrothermal alteration zones, some of which are gold‐bearing, in actively rising and eroding mountain ...

Synergistic Metal‐Support Interactions in Au/GaN Catalysts for Photoelectrochemical Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 11, March 19, 2025.
A solar‐driven photoelectrochemical system is presented for sustainable NH3 production via NO3− reduction, addressing the energy demands of conventional processes. In this system, Au nanoclusters on GaN nanowires enable a tandem catalysis mechanism: NO₃⁻ reduces to NO2− on GaN, followed by NH3 synthesis on Au.

Menstrual experience of adolescents in the USA: protocol for a scoping review

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2021
Introduction In recent years, there has been a growing desire to address issues related to menstruation, particularly for adolescent girls. In low-income and middle-income countries, prior literature review of the adolescent menstrual experience suggests

Rapidity equilibration in d + Au and Au + Au systems [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal A, 2006
In a Relativistic Diffusion Model (RDM), the evolution of net-proton rapidity spectra with sqrt(s_NN) in heavy systems is proposed as an indicator for local equilibration and longitudinal expansion. The broad midrapidity valley recently discovered at RHIC in central Au + Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN)= 200 GeV suggests rapid local equilibration which is ...

Formation of Cu, Ag and Au nanofiims under the influence of hydrogen atoms

open access: yesTekhnologiya i Konstruirovanie v Elektronnoi Apparature, 2015
Due to their electrical properties, thin metallic films are widely used in modern micro- and nanoelectronics. These properties allow solving fundamental problems of surface and solid state physics.

Porous Iron Oxide Core–Gold Satellite Nanocomposite: A Cost‐Effective and Recyclable Solution for Photocatalytic Wastewater Treatment

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 4, Issue 2, February 2024.
This article reports a porous Fe3O4 core–Au satellite nanocomposite prepared using a selective etching strategy for realizing advanced oxidation processes under visible light. The porous structure of the synthesized nanomaterial considerably enhances its photocatalytic activity, surface area, and light absorption.

Study of the visible light activity of Pt and Au-TiO2 photocatalysts in organic pollutants degradation
