Retrospective Analysis of Hatchling Success From Chelonian Eggs at a North Carolina Wildlife Clinic 2010 to 2023

open access: yesZoo Biology, EarlyView.
Retrospective analysis of chelonian eggs collected from gravid females admitted to a North Carolina wildlife clinic (2010–2023). A total of 2257 eggs were harvested from live, euthanized, and deceased patients and incubated under standardized conditions, resulting in 43.4% hatching success.

Noise Study Auralization of an Open-Rotor Engine

open access: yesAerospace
Based on the performance and acoustic data files of reduced-size open-rotor engines in low-speed wind tunnels, the static sound pressure level was derived by converting the 1-foot lossless spectral density into sound-pressure-level data, the background ...

Auralization of Air Vehicle Noise for Community Noise Assessment [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper serves as an introduction to air vehicle noise auralization and documents the current state-of-the-art. Auralization of flyover noise considers the source, path, and receiver as part of a time marching simulation. Two approaches are offered; a

Religio‐Governmental Infrastructures: Islam, Infrastructure, and Populist Mobilization in Turkey

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Turkish mosques are staffed by state‐appointed imams and callers to prayer whose practices are regulated through a complex bureaucratic network operating on an internet‐based data‐management and communication infrastructure. A centralized mosque loudspeaker network enables the broadcast of calls to prayer and other Islamic recitations across ...

Source-time dominant modeling of the Doppler shift for the auralization of moving sources

open access: yesActa Acustica
When developing an auralization for acoustic scenarios involving moving sources and receivers, one key feature is the ability to simulate the Doppler shift, i.e., the changing frequency content from the receiver’s perspective.

On account of doomsday

open access: yesAmerican Ethnologist, EarlyView.
Abstract In recent years, Berlin has emerged as an epicenter of climate activism in Germany. There, a range of groups have mobilized in opposition to the role of the German state and the EU in accelerating the climate crisis. Many activists now see conventional political responses as exhausted and have turned to increasingly radical forms of civil ...
