Carbidic austempered ductile irons

2017
Carbidic austempered ductile iron, which attracts considerable attention in wear applications recently, due to its superior abrasive wear resistance and sufficient impact toughness, is the latest member of ductile iron family.  A new technology and additional investment are not required for the production of these irons.

Role of austenite in promoting ductility in an austempered ductile iron

Materials Science and Technology, 1997
AbstractMeasurements of the austempering kinetics and mechanical properties of an alloy ductile iron after single and stepped austempering treatments following austenitising at 920°C are presented. The kinetic and tensile data are analysed to show how the thermal and mechanical stability of the austenite phase vary with austempering treatment. Both the

Improving the Properties of Austempered Ductile Iron

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2002
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The influence of austenite content on the properties of austempered ductile iron (ADI) was investigated. The “reacted” austenite content in the ADI structure was controlled by varying austenitizing temperature and, thus, the carbon content of the austenite during austenitizing. Phase transformation studies revealed

Abrasion Resistance of Austempered Ductile Iron

Cast Metals, 1993
The authors prepared 25 groups of austempered ductile iron (ADI) by varying austenitising temperature (850–950°C) and austempering temperature (260–420°C).

Stacking faults in austempered ductile iron

Scripta Materialia, 1996
During last decade, Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI) has been successfully used as an acceptable replacement material for steel in many applications, due to the relatively high strength and reasonable ductility obtained. These properties are the result of the special microstructure exhibited by this material at the end of the upper bainite reaction ...
