Microstructure and mechanical properties of two-step Cu-alloyed ADI treated by different second step austempering temperatures and times [PDF]
Austempering ductile iron (ADI) is an attractive material due to its excellent comprehensive mechanical properties. However, the deficit in elongation and toughness always threatens its security application.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of CuNiMo austempered ductile iron [PDF]
Microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu, Ni and Mo alloyed cast ductile iron have been investigated after austempering. Samples were austenitised at 860oC for 1h and then austempered at 320oC and 400oC in the interval from 0,5 to 5h.

In this article, Franceschi et al. study a newly developed medium carbon high silicon carbide free baintic steel. The effect of different is isothermal transformation temperature on the bainitic microstructure is investigated in terms of phase constituents, morphology and mechanical properties. It is observed that the isothermal treatments below 300 °C

Formation of lower bainite in a high carbon steel – an in-situ synchrotron XRD study
The microstructural evolution of and simultaneous dimensional changes in high-carbon SAE 52100 bearing steel were monitored continuously during austempering for 120 min at selected temperatures in the range of 210 °C-270 °C, and also during its ...

Ensuring the transformation‐induced plasticity (TRIP) effect in advanced high‐strength steels (AHSS) requires that the formation of cementite is suppressed by the addition of alloying elements such as Si. Theoretical simulations reveal the impact of alloying elements on the elastic and chemical stability of cementite, taking into account the role of ...

Nanobainite Generated in Low‐ and Medium‐Carbon Steels via an Economical Alloying Strategy
A low‐cost strategy for generating low‐ and medium‐C steel alloys relying on Al additions to accelerate the transformation is investigated. Increasing Al in isothermally and continuously cooled conditions refines the lamellar thickness, lowers both the incubation and transformation times but causes a slight drop in tensile properties.

Effect of austempering temperature and manganese content on the impact energy of austempered ductile iron [PDF]
Austempered ductile iron (ADI) is a revolutionary material that has the ability to replace some of the commonly used steel forgings. ADI is being used in wide range of products because of the availability of this material with relatively lesser cost and its higher strength to weight ratio.
