Limiting austenite grain size of TiN-containing steel considering the critical particle size

Scripta Materialia, 2007
This paper presents a model that predicts the limiting austenite grain size of microalloyed steel in the presence of growing particles. This model, unlike previous ones, considers the effect of critical particle size on the particle-coarsening kinetics, which affect the limiting grain size.

Grain boundary sliding in type 316 austenitic steels, part I the grain size dependence

Materials Science and Engineering, 1977
Abstract The grain size dependence of grain boundary sliding has been determined for Type 316 austenitic steel in the pre-aged condition, creep tested at 800 °C. The mean rate of sliding per grain boundary ( u ) increased slightly as the grain size decreased from 125 to 50 μm, but dropped sharply as the grain size dropped below 50 μm.

Static Recrystallized Grain Size of Coarse-Grained Austenite in an API-X70 Pipeline Steel

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2013
The effects of initial grain size and strain on the static recrystallized grain size of coarse-grained austenite in an API-X70 steel microalloyed with Nb, V, and Ti were investigated using a Gleeble-3800 thermomechanical simulator. The results indicate that the static recrystallized grain size of coarse-grained austenite decreases with decreasing ...

Grain-to-grain variations in NbC particle size distributions in an austenitic stainless steel

Journal of Materials Science, 1979
Quantitative information has been obtained concerning the size distributions of NbC precipitate particles in different grains in a deformed and aged austenitic stainless steel specimen. The precipitate size distributions obtained differ from one grain to another.

Size distribution of austenite grains and disperse particles in steel

Russian Metallurgy (Metally), 2007
The physicomechanical properties of steels depend substantially on the austenite grain size and the uniformity of the size distribution of grains. Variation in the grain size of steel degrades many of its properties. In particular, this variation can cause nonuniform phase transformations in steel, when bainite forms in more stable coarse austenite ...
