Austropotamobius pallipes.

2010
The White-clawed Crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes) has been assessed as Endangered under criterion A2ce. In the last ten years this species is suspected to have undergone a decline of somewhere between 50 - 80% based on presence/absence data available for England, France and Italy. The situation in these countries is thought to be similar to that of

Evolutionary history of Austropotamobius torrentium

2019
Austropotamobius torrentium is a freshwater crayfish species distributed across central and south-eastern Europe, with the highest genetic diversity recorded in the northern-central Dinarides. Previous studies have shown that evolutionary history of A. torrentium was shaped through different paleohydrologic and paleogeologic events from Miocene onwards.

Molecular phylogeny of the branchiobdellidans (Annelida: Clitellata) living on Croatian populations of Austropotamobius torrentium and Austropotamobius pallipes

2015
Branchiobdellidans are ectosymbiotic annelids that are primarily associated with freshwater crayfish. Previous studies of branchiobdellidans in Croatia have been focused mainly on the distribution and diversity of the genus Branchiobdella. The objective of this research was to infer the phylogenetic relationships of the branchiobdellidan species living

Austropotamobius torrentium.

2010
Austropotamobius torrentium is listed under the Annex II of the EU Habitats Directive as a species requiring special conservation measures (Souty-Grosset et al. 2006). It is also listed on the German Red List (RL3, Appendix 1), and within a number of other countries as threatened (Souty-Grosset et al. 2006).

Toxicokinetic and metabolic study of dimethylnitrosamine and diethylnitrosamine in crayfish Austropotamobius pallipes

Xenobiotica, 1985
The acute toxicities of dimethylnitrosamine and diethylnitrosamine have been evaluated in adult male crayfish Austropotamobius pallipes; LD50 values are 2250 mg/kg and 230 mg/kg, respectively. Toxicokinetic studies of 14C-dimethylnitrosamine and 14C-diethylnitrosamine in crayfish, administered by i.v.

Forag ing by a threatened species - the whiteclawed crayfish, Austropotamobius pallipes

Archiv für Hydrobiologie, 2001
In analysing the eco-ethological traits of animal populations from the viewpoint of conservation biology, an understanding of the foraging activity of endangered species provides useful clues on habitat requirements and resource utilisation. The present study examined the foraging excursions of 60 specimens of the threatened crayfish, Austropotamobius ...

A study of reproductive females of the freshwater crayfish Austropotamobius pallipes

Hydrobiologia, 1985
Details of the female annual reproductive cycle in the population from Northumberland are given. Mating occurs in October and is followed by egg laying in early November. Eggs are carried by females until the following July–August when hatching occurs.

A Case of Negative Allometry in Austropotamobius Gill Growth

Nature, 1964
THE relative filamental surface area of the common British crayfish shows a tendency to decrease with increase in body size1. This seems to contradict the principle of similitude which states that the surface area of an animal is proportional to the square of its linear dimensions, whereas the volume (and the weight, for approximation) is proportional ...

Metal-binding proteins in the hepatopancreas of the crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Comparative Pharmacology, 1983
Abstract 1. The hepatopancreas of the crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes) has been studied in relation to the cellular distribution of Cu, Zn and Cd ions administered in viro or in vitro. 2. Supernatant fractions have been investigated by gel filtration chromatography and three main components have been identified with apparent molecular weights of

Metal ion metabolism in the moulting crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1982
Abstract 1. 1. The hepatopancreas, antennal gland, gills, gonads. muscle, stomach, carapace, gastroliths and blood of 52 crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes) have been analysed for copper, zinc, iron, manganese and calcium throughout the moult cycle. 2. 2. There are significant changes in most of these metals at the time of ecdysis. 3. 3.
