Autocatalytic recombination systems: A reaction network perspective
Mathematical Biosciences, 2022Autocatalytic systems called hypercycles are very often incorporated in "origin of life" models. We investigate the dynamics of certain related models called bimolecular autocatalytic systems. In particular, we consider the dynamics corresponding to the relative populations in these networks, and show that it can be analyzed using well-chosen ...

Reaction fronts of the autocatalytic hydrogenase reaction
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2018We have built a model to describe the hydrogenase catalyzed, autocatalytic, reversible hydrogen oxidation reaction where one of the enzyme forms is the autocatalyst. The model not only reproduces the experimentally observed front properties, but also explains the found hydrogen ion dependence.

Optimization of autocatalytic reactions
Chemical Engineering Science, 1993Abstract The problem of maximizing product (catalyst) mass was formulated for irreversible autocatalytic reactions of any order power law kinetics, A + nB → (n + 1)B, mB → C. The feeds strategy for a well-mixed isothermal semi-batch reactor was determined using singluar control theory.

Autocatalytic decomposition reactions, hazards and detection
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2002In the chemical industry, estimation methods based on dynamic Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements have been developed for a preliminary screening of the risk associated to a chemical operation. An important point for the assessment of thermal risk is the identification of autocatalytic reactions.

Autocatalytic networks with intermediates I: Irreversible reactions
Mathematical Biosciences, 1997A class of autocatalytic reaction networks based on template-dependent replication and specific catalysis is considered. Trimolecular "elementary steps" of simple replicator dynamics are resolved into two consecutive irreversible reactions. The extreme cases, competition for common resources and hypercycle-like cooperative feedback, were analyzed in ...

Gas absorption with autocatalytic reaction
Chemical Engineering Science, 1975The film theory has been employed to investigate gas absorption accompanied by an autocatalytic chemical reaction of the form A + Ṙ → Ṙ + Ṙ. This reaction has been taken to be the simplest analogue of the autocatalytic features of chain reactions encountered in the industrially important gas-liquid oxidation and chlorination reactions.
