PROCESS OF CREATING AND COMPARING 4D MODELS OF RHENISH CASTLES IN DIFFERENT MODELING ENVIRONMENTS [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
Alsace is renowned for its rich castle heritage. With more than 500 listed castles, it is one of Europe's most densely fortified areas (Châteaux forts Alsace, 2013). Some of them date back to the 11th century, and most of them are in ruins.

Harnessing Deep Learning of Point Clouds for Morphology Mimicking of Universal 3D Shape‐Morphing Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2025.
Soft robots capable of morphing into various 3D shapes are crucial for applications like human‐machine interfaces and biological manipulation. However, controlling 3D shape‐morphing robots with soft actuators remains a challenge. This work introduces a machine learning model that maps complex 3D deformations to control inputs, enabling robots to mimic ...

Skull morphology and histology indicate the presence of an unexpected buccal soft tissue structure in dinosaurs

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 247, Issue 3-4, Page 790-818, September/October 2025.
A combined approach of osteology and histology was used to examine the cheek regions of dinosaurs. Strong evidence was found for a soft tissue in this region connecting the zygoma to the mandible, here named the ‘exoparia’. Abstract Unlike mammals, reptiles typically lack large muscles and ligaments that connect the zygoma to the mandible.

Multi‐Mode Mechanochromic Responses from Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Elastomer Tubes of Uniform Sheath

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 34, August 28, 2025.
The structural‐colored tube is created from cholesteric liquid crystal elastomers, exhibiting uniform color changes with high strain sensitivity upon extension and inflation. The color change occurs across multiple mechanochromic modes, highlighting the influence of molecular anisotropy and tubular geometry on strain sensitivity.

Hindlimb biomechanics of Lagosuchus talampayensis (Archosauria, Dinosauriformes), with comments on skeletal morphology

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 246, Issue 6, Page 948-973, June 2025.
The study constructs a 3D whole‐body biomechanical model of the Late Triassic archosaurian reptile Lagosuchus talampayensis, which includes reconstructions of the hindlimb musculature. The process of constructing the model revealed that numerous limb bones curated with the main specimens are from other, as‐yet‐undetermined archosaurs.
