Cracking the Code: Which Ocular Symptoms Predict Dry Eye Signs? Insights From a Large International Sicca Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0–4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0–3) as predictors of DED signs (abnormal ocular ...

The Development of Rheumatoid Arthritis‐Specific Ambulatory Care Sensitive Conditions: Results of a Consensus Process

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Ambulatory care sensitive conditions (ACSCs) serve as indicators of access, quality, and performance of the health system. This study aimed to determine rheumatoid arthritis (RA)‐specific ACSCs for use in the evaluation of care system access and quality.

Bifidobacterium Pseudolongum‐Derived Inosine Mitigates Polystyrene Nanoplastics‐Induced Hepatic Injury by Inhibiting the Polarization of M1 Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Probiotic B.p colonization elevated gut‐derived inosine level in the liver, while elevated inosine activated A2AR and subsequently blocked NPs‐induced polarization of M1 macrophages by repressing the miR155/SOCS1/NF‐κB pathway. This reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines and thereby, mitigated NPs‐induced hepatic injury.

Classical autoimmune hepatitis and the IgG4-associated autoimmune hepatitis in paediatric patients

open access: yesPolish Journal of Pathology
The IgG4-associated autoimmune hepatitis (IgG4-AIH) is a newly proposed disease entity characterised by the accumulation of the IgG4-expressing plasma cells in the liver. Its pathophysiology and clinical significance remain unclear and have poor evidence

Optimized Ex Vivo Human Liver Slice Culture Maintains Extended Viability and Function for Hepatotoxicity Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An optimized ex vivo human liver slice culture system preserves tissue architecture, hepatocyte function, and immune‐stromal complexity for at least five days. By refining slice thickness, oxygenation, air‐liquid interface, and extracellular matrix support, the platform enables human‐relevant hepatotoxicity testing and mechanistic studies, offering a ...

Emerging Importance of Autoimmune Hepatitis in Children in Taiwan, an Endemic Area for Viral Hepatitis

open access: yesPediatrics and Neonatology, 2009
Untreated autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) can develop into liver cirrhosis, with potentially fatal outcomes. Viral hepatitis in children was endemic in Taiwan before universal hepatitis B vaccination, but AIH has rarely been reported in Taiwanese children. We

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...
