Automated Synchronization of Driving Data Using Vibration and Steering Events
We propose a method for automated synchronization of vehicle sensors useful for the study of multi-modal driver behavior and for the design of advanced driver assistance systems. Multi-sensor decision fusion relies on synchronized data streams in (1) the

A passively adaptive screwdriver: a novel concept for controlling off-diagonal stiffness [PDF]
A concept for an automated screw driving mechanism is presented. The proposed mechanism has a self-adjusting axial stiffness that depends on the torsional resistance against screwing.

Physics of automated-driving vehicular traffic
We have found that a variety of phase transitions occurring between three traffic phases (free flow (F), synchronized flow (S), and wide moving jam (J)) determine the spatiotemporal dynamics of traffic consisting of 100% automated-driving vehicles moving on a two-lane road with an on-ramp bottleneck.

A Systematic Review of Virtual Reality Applications for Automated Driving: 2009–2020
While virtual reality (VR) interfaces have been researched extensively over the last decades, studies on their application in vehicles have only recently advanced.

Attention for Vision-Based Assistive and Automated Driving: A Review of Algorithms and Datasets
Driving safety has been a concern since the first cars appeared on the streets. Driver inattention has been singled out as a major cause of accidents early on. This is hardly surprising, as drivers routinely perform other tasks in addition to controlling

Influence of automated driving on driver’s own localization: a driving simulator study [PDF]
Purpose - Level 3 automated driving, which has been defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers, may cause driver drowsiness or lack of situation awareness, which can make it difficult for the driver to recognize where he/she is.

Towards Full Automated Drive in Urban Environments: A Demonstration in GoMentum Station, California
Each year, millions of motor vehicle traffic accidents all over the world cause a large number of fatalities, injuries and significant material loss. Automated Driving (AD) has potential to drastically reduce such accidents. In this work, we focus on the
