Vehicle requirements model for automated guided vehicle systems
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 1996A simulation-based cost model is presented for determining the number of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) needed to meet the material handling requirements in a manufacturing system. The estimation of the number of vehicles is based on the sum of the idle-time costs of vehicles and machines, and the cost of waiting time of parts.

Automated Guided Vehicle Systems
1988Today, automated guided vehicle systems are one of the most exciting and dynamic areas in material handling. Through the years, developments in electronics have led to the rapid advancement of these systems. These ongoing changes may have given AGVS more flexibility and capability, but market acceptance has really given the technology application ...

Scheduling of Automated Guided Vehicles in Automated Container Terminals
2007We study an automated container terminal in which Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are used to internally transport containers and Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs)to store and retrieve containers. A key issue in automated container terminals is the assignment of transportation orders to automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
