Transfer learning for automated optical inspection
2017 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), 2017One of the challenges in applying convolutional neural networks to automated optical inspection is the lack of sufficient training data. In this paper we show that transfer learning can be successfully applied using image data from an entirely different domain.

Automated optical inspection of geometrical shapes

No.98CH36222), 1998The paper presents an automated optical inspection system for geometrical feature measurements. The system can be programmed through friendly user menus for the measurement of any geometrical shape. A series of movable calipers can be set for different rectangular dimensions while radiuses can be used for circular shapes.

Automated optical inspection for die prep
2012 SEMI Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Conference, 2012During the wafer dicing process, the die are separated from a wafer of semiconductor. The dicing saw will leave the damage on the backside of the wafer and this damage needs to be accessed and inspected. The main damage on the backside of the wafer is chipping and delamination that can reduce the die strength.

The system is far too ‘anthropomorphic’ and not well enough adapted to the limitations of present-day computers nor to the preprocessing capabilities of present-day optical systems.

Automated optical inspection method for MEMS fabrication

In testing MEMS, a piezo driven vibrator is used to vibrate the MEMS device at its natural resonance frequency in vacuum environment.

An Automatic Calibration Method for Kerf Angle in Wafer Automated Optical Inspection
2021 3rd International Conference on Image Processing and Machine Vision (IPMV), 2021To improve the accuracy of kerf angle, an automatic calibration method for kerf angle in wafer automated optical inspection is presented. First, the error model of inspection system is established and system angle deviations are calibrated. Next, normalized positioning-based the kerf edges of interest in multiple images are extracted.
