Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Maximizing traffic flow of automated guided vehicles based on Jamology and applications

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2018
This study aims to propose and investigate a theoretical maximum traffic flow method. Furthermore, we propose a merging timing control based on the results obtained from this method, which are verified using actual automated guided vehicles. The results (

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Planning for walking and cycling in an autonomous-vehicle future

open access: yesTransportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives, 2019
Over the last few decades, walking and cycling have increased in the United States, especially in large cities. Future efforts to promote active travel will occur during a time when automated vehicles will increasingly perform driving tasks without human

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Operational Design Domain-Driven Coverage for the Safety Argumentation of Automated Vehicles

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Automated Vehicles aim to increase road safety as automated driving systems (ADS) take over the human driving task in the operational design domain (ODD), introducing severe challenges for safety validation.

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

An adaptive model predictive approach for automated vehicle control in fallback procedure based on virtual vehicle scheme [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles, 2020
Purpose – Automated driving systems (ADSs) are being developed to avoid human error and improve driving safety. However, limited focus has been given to the fallback behavior of automated vehicles, which act as a fail-safe mechanism to deal with safety ...

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Legal and Safety Aspects of the Application of Automated and Autonomous Vehicles in the Republic of Croatia

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal
In its draft proposal for the Road Transport Act, the Croatian government referred to European Union Directive 2022/738, which concerns the use of hired vehicles for goods transport, rather than the pertinent European Union regulations on automated and ...
