2‐line Ferrihydrite Enhance Microbial Synthesis of Plant Biostimulants in Composted Biosolid by Regulating Phyla Pseudomonadota and Actinomycetota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores how iron and manganese oxides transform sewage sludge into plant biostimulants during composting. Non‐targeted identification reveals the main species of plant biostimulants. Metagenomic analysis reveals that 2‐line ferrihydrite specifically enriches microbial genes for biosynthesis, boosting plant‐growth promoters.

Strigolactones spatially influence lateral root development through the cytokinin signaling network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Strigolactones are important rhizosphere signals that act as phytohormones and have multiple functions, including modulation of lateral root (LR) development.

Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill.: Cladode explants with several areoles, forchlorfenuron and indole-3-butyric acid for optimized in vitro culture and NPK controlled release fertilizer for direct ex vivo rooting

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca
The genus Opuntia includes more than 300 species, with the most economically important being Opuntia ficus-indica. In this study, the in vitro propagation potential of the prickly pear cactus (O. ficus-indica (L.) Mill.) was evaluated.

Chlorinated auxins–how does Arabidopsis thaliana deal with them?

open access: yes, 2020
Plant hormones have various functions in plants and play crucial roles in all developmental and differentiation stages. Auxins constitute one of the most important groups with the major representative indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). A halogenated derivate of

The plant hormone ethylene restricts Arabidopsis growth via the epidermis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The gaseous hormone ethylene plays a key role in plant growth and development, and it is a major regulator of stress responses. It inhibits vegetative growth by restricting cell elongation, mainly through cross-talk with auxins.

Soybean Auxin Transporter PIN3 Regulates Nitrate Acquisition to Improve Nitrogen Use and Seed Traits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Xu et al. discovers that switching off auxin transporters in soybean, PIN3a and PIN3b, disrupts auxin flow; this triggers ARF‐STF3/4 signal cascade to activate the nitrate importer NPF2.13 and soil nitrogen acquisition. Multi‐year field trials show edited soybeans maintain yield with higher oil content, offering a potential genetic route to improve ...

Unexpected Dual Function of Plant YUCCA Enzymes Links Chlorophyll Catabolism to Auxin Homeostasis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
YUCCA enzymes are well known to catalyze the main step of auxin biosynthesis in plants. Here, a hitherto undescribed dual function was discovered, revealing that some YUCCAs also act in chlorophyll degradation. In vitro feedback regulation furthermore suggests a link between chlorophyll degradation and hormone homeostasis and a physiological role of ...

Biochemical activity of auxins in dependence of their structures in Wolffia arrhiza (L.) Wimm.

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2011
Wolffia arrhiza (L.) Wimm. (Lemnaceae) as a mixotrophic plant reacts considerably weaker to used auxins with different chemical structures than typical photosynthetic vascular plants and algae especially from Chlorophyta.
