A New Method for End-to-End Available Bandwidth Estimation

IEEE GLOBECOM 2008 - 2008 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2008
Previous Probe Gap Model (PGM) based available bandwidth (AB) estimation methods all request the "busy assumption" that probing packet pairs should be in the same busy period when transmitted on bottleneck link, which is hard to satisfy especially for the low utilization path.

Estimating Available Bandwidth Using Multiple Overloading Streams

2006 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2006
Available bandwidth measurement is essential to applications running on the best-effort Internet. In this paper, we propose an available bandwidth measurement technique named MoSeab. The idea behind MoSeab is a direct probing technique based on a statistical model for network data transmissions.

Using packet probes for available bandwidth estimation

Proceedings of the 1st international workshop on Wireless network testbeds, experimental evaluation & characterization, 2006
Evaluating available bandwidth estimation methods requires a malleable MAC protocol implementation, precise MAC layer packet timing measurements, and the ability to create control topologies in laboratory setups so that not all nodes are within communication range.

AB-Cap: A Fast Approach to Available Bandwidth Estimation

2005
A new active measurement approach to Internet end-to-end available bandwidth estimation, AB-cap, is proposed, which is based on the concept of self-induced congestion. In this approach, the transmission rates of probing packets are increased step by step and a new decision criteria, NWID (Normalized Weighted Increased Delay), is defined.

Assolo, a New Method for Available Bandwidth Estimation

2009 Fourth International Conference on Internet Monitoring and Protection, 2009
End-to-end available bandwidth estimation is very important for bandwidth dependent applications, quality of service verification and traffic engineering. Although several techniques and tools have been developed in the past, producing reliable estimations in real-time still remains challenging -- it is necessary to ensure that the measurement process ...

Correlation Analysis of Available Bandwidth Estimators for Mobile HCI

2007
Transport protocol in mobile devices of HCI (humancomputer interaction) operates both in wired and wireless heterogeneous network. It has been developed from reactive congestion control schemes to proactive congestion control schemes suitable for both wired and wireless networks environment to overcome the poor wireless environment and restricted ...

An End-to-End Available Bandwidth Estimation Methodology

Journal of Software, 2006
A majority of current bandwidth estimation methodologies rely on the principle of the bottleneck spacing effect. Based on the concept of packet dispersion, many packet pair/packet train techniques were presented to estimate capacity/available bandwidth.

Improving QoS in MANET by estimating the available bandwidth

2014 Sixth International Conference on Advanced Computing (ICoAC), 2014
Bandwidth estimation plays a vital role in case of multimedia communications because it drastically degrades the performance of throughput in mobile networks. Hence an efficient management and sharing of bandwidth among the users is essential to improve the performance of networks.
