On the relativistic large-angle electron collision operator for runaway avalanches in plasmas

open access: yes, 2017
Large-angle Coulomb collisions lead to an avalanching generation of runaway electrons in a plasma. We present the first fully conservative large-angle collision operator, derived from the relativistic Boltzmann operator.

On the stability of many-body localization in $d>1$

open access: yes, 2019
Recent work by De Roeck et al. [Phys. Rev. B 95, 155129 (2017)] has argued that many-body localization (MBL) is unstable in two and higher dimensions due to a thermalization avalanche triggered by rare regions of weak disorder. To examine these arguments,

Dendritic flux penetration in Pb films with a periodic array of antidots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We explore the flux-jump regime in type-II Pb thin films with a periodic array of antidots by means of magneto-optical measurements. A direct visualization of the magnetic flux distribution allows to identify a rich morphology of flux penetration ...
