Evolution of multilocus genetic structure in Avena hirtula and Avena barbata. [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 1993
Abstract Avena barbata, an autotetraploid grass, is much more widely adapted than Avena hirtula, its diploid ancestor. We have determined the 14-locus genotype of 754 diploid and 4751 tetraploid plants from 10 and 50 Spanish sites, respectively.

Non-destructive analysis of photosynthetic pigments in Avena strigosa and Avena sativa

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Crop Science, 2019
Chlorophylls and carotenoids are the main photosynthetic pigments in plants. The photosynthetic potential of crop plants is used to determine the correct rate of nitrogen fertilization. To date, no studies have been conducted to understand the relationship between different methods of measurement of photosynthetic pigments in oats.

THE GROWTH AND RESPIRATION OF THE AVENA COLEOPTILE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Physiology, 1936
1. Transport of the plant growth hormone into the Avena coleoptile as well as the action of the hormone on cell elongation in the coleoptile are shown to depend upon aerobic metabolism. 2. Crystalline auxine, in contrast with impure preparations, affects neither the magnitude nor the respiratory quotient of coleoptile respiration.

The pharmacology of Avena sativa

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1975
Abstract The pharmacology of Avena sativa has been investigated in laboratory animals following a report that tincture of Avena sativa reduced the craving for cigarettes in man. The tincture, evaporated to dryness, re-constituted in an equal volume of water and administered by stomach tube or intraperitoneal injection, antagonized the ...

Sugarcane transcriptome analysis in response to infection caused by Acidovorax avenae subsp. avenae

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Sugarcane is an important tropical crop mainly cultivated to produce ethanol and sugar. Crop productivity is negatively affected by Acidovorax avenae subsp avenae (Aaa), which causes the red stripe disease. Little is known about the molecular mechanisms triggered in response to the infection.
