On the Applicability of Average Channel Capacity in Log-Normal Fading Environment

Wireless Personal Communications, 2012
The statistical characterization of channel capacity in slow fading environment modeled by log-normal probability density function is considered. The probability density function of channel capacity is found to be positively skewed and significantly departs from bell shaped curve for higher values of σ dB .

Capacity of Optical Intensity Channels with Peak and Average Power Constraints

2009 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2009
The design and analysis of capacity-approaching input signalling for optical intensity channels are presented. Both peak and average optical power constraints are considered in the analysis. The capacity-achieving distribution for this channel is discrete with a finite number of mass points.

Average Channel Capacity over Mixture Gamma Distribution

2020 International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICE3), 2020
With the advancement of new technologies, high data rate is considered as the primary requirement of all the communication systems. Maximum data transportation capability of the wireless channel is addressed in terms of the channel capacity. In this regard, we derive new expressions for the optimal rate adaptation (ORA), optimal power rate adaptation ...

Average secrecy capacity of the Weibull fading channel

2016 13th IEEE Annual Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC), 2016
In this paper, the information-theoretic secrecy of Weibull fading channels is investigated. The present work is a generalization of the analysis on Rayleigh fading. This paper focuses on the scenario that the channel state information is available to the legitimate transmitter. The cases of single and multiple eavesdroppers are discussed.

$\epsilon$-Capacity of Binary Symmetric Averaged Channels

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2007
We consider the channel model obtained by averaging binary symmetric channel (BSC) components with respect to a weighting distribution. A nonempty open interval (A, B) is called a capacity gap for this channel model if no channel component has capacity in (A, B) and this property fails for every open interval strictly containing (A, B).

The capacity of average and peak-power-limited quadrature Gaussian channels

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1995
The capacity C(/spl rho//sub a/, /spl rho//sub p/) of the discrete-time quadrature additive Gaussian channel (QAGC) with inputs subjected to (normalized) average and peak power constraints, /spl rho//sub a/ and /spl rho//sub p/ respectively, is considered.

Average secrecy capacity of land mobile satellite wiretap channels

2016 8th International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing (WCSP), 2016
This paper investigates the secrecy performance of a multi-antenna land mobile satellite (LMS) communication system in the presence of an eavesdropper who wants to overhear the confidential message. Specifically, considering the active eavesdropping scenario, namely, the eavesdropper's CSI is available to the satellite, we derive the closed-form ...

On maximizing the average capacity with interference alignment in a time varying channel

2016 Information Theory and Applications Workshop (ITA), 2016
Interference alignment like techniques are promising in multiuser networks as they yield a high sum capacity and allow multiple users to communicate concurrently. As alignment of interference requires tight coupling to estimates of the channel, time variations in the channel lead to loss of capacity since estimates take time to make and communicate ...

Average Channel Capacity Analysis for Visible Light Communications with Random Receivers

2020 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2020
For indoor visible light communications (VLC), the receivers are usually set to be fixed ones in previous studies. However, the locations and orientations of receivers are affected by random factors in practical VLC systems. In this paper, the performance of VLC with random receivers is investigated.

The Capacity of the Optical Broadcast Channel with Peak and Average Intensity Constraints

2018 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2018
This paper addresses a two-user intensity-modulation direct-detection discrete memoryless free space optical broadcast channel (DM-FSOBC) with nonnegativity, peak and average intensity constraints at the transmitter. It is shown that superposition coding along with generating the codebooks of both users according to discrete distributions with a finite
