Blood Pressure Responses During Exercise Were Associated With Average Home Blood Pressure and Home Blood Pressure Variability: The Electronic Framingham Heart Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Abnormal exercise blood pressure (BP) responses are associated with hypertension and cardiovascular disease, but their relationship with home BP over a mid‐ to long‐term time span is unknown. Methods At an FHS (Framingham Heart Study) research

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

S22-2: The Validation of Real-World Digital Mobility Outcomes

open access: yesBaltic Journal of Sport and Health Sciences
Purpose: Despite the increasing relevance of mobility impairment, there are no tools available to measure it in the real-world. The European Mobilise-D project developed 24 digital mobility outcomes (DMOs) to assess real-world mobility that target ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Relationship between morning blood pressure variability and cerebral microbleed burden in patients with hypertension

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Hypertension
Cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) can be understood as a type of target organ damage caused by hypertension. We aimed to explore the association of the CMB burden with morning blood pressure (BP) variability in patients with hypertension.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Composite Spatiotemporal Traffic Instability Metric for Early Congestion Detection in Underground Expressways

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Traffic flow in long underground expressways is expected to exhibit amplified spatiotemporal variability due to confined geometry, longitudinal gradients, limited recovery space, and heterogeneous vehicle interactions.
