Averaging in multifrequency systems with multi-point conditions and a delay

open access: yesActa et Commentationes: Ştiinţe Exacte şi ale Naturii
For multifrequency system of differential equations with a discrete and integral delay we find conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the solution. Linear multipoint conditions are set for the solution.

Application of the Averaging Method to the Optimal Control Problem of Non-Linear Differential Inclusions on the Finite Interval

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
In this paper, we use the averaging method to find an approximate solution for the optimal control of non-linear differential inclusions with fast-oscillating coefficients on a finite time interval.

DUALITY FOR AVERAGING METHODS

open access: yesFar East Journal of Dynamical Systems, 2010
Several topologies on the invertible measure preserving transformations of a probability space are defined via the closure operator associated with the duality between transformations and classes of uniformly dissipative averaging methods. Properties of these topologies are closely tied to classical harmonic analysis on the circle via the spectral ...

The Combined Effect of Obesity and Contraceptive Use on Pulmonary Embolism in Adolescent Females Residing in the United States

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Combined oral contraceptive (COC) use in obese adult women dramatically increases the relative risk of developing a pulmonary embolism (PE). The risk of a PE in obese adolescent females taking contraceptives is currently unknown. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of body mass index (BMI) and contraceptive

Are Fertility Preservation Procedures Before Gonadotoxic Therapy and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Feasible and Safe in Very Young Children? A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Fertility preservation (FP) is increasingly integrated into the care of pediatric patients exposed to gonadotoxic therapy or conditioning for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), yet perioperative data in infants and toddlers remain scarce.

Special Splines of Hyperbolic Type for the Solutions of Heat and Mass Transfer 3-D Problems in Porous Multi-Layered Axial Symmetry Domain

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2017
In this paper we study the problem of the diffusion of one substance through the pores of a porous multi layered material which may absorb and immobilize some of the diffusing substances with the evolution or absorption of heat. As an example we consider

Stochastic average model methods

open access: yesComputational Optimization and Applications
We consider the solution of finite-sum minimization problems, such as those appearing in nonlinear least-squares or general empirical risk minimization problems. We are motivated by problems in which the summand functions are computationally expensive and evaluating all summands on every iteration of an optimization method may be undesirable.

Prevalence of 21 Physician‐Defined Severe Toxicities Following Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Treatment: Australian Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer, with an overall survival now surpassing 90% in developed countries. However, treatments are not without adverse effects. In this study, we apply the severe toxicity‐free survival (STFS) framework to determine the prevalence of 21 physician‐defined severe ...

Health Literacy, Self‐Efficacy and Knowledge of Sickle Cell Disease Among Caregivers

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hereditary blood disorder in which abnormal haemoglobin leads to severe anaemia, painful crises and organ failure. Caregivers’ health literacy (HL) – their ability to assess, understand and apply information, and interact with healthcare professionals – is crucial for managing children with SCD, yet ...

Leukemia and Exposure to Potential Benzene Sources in Children From the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, 2010–2021: A Geospatial Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Leukemia is the most common childhood cancer in Mexico, and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most frequent subtype. Exposure to high concentrations of benzene has been associated with ALL incidence, particularly in urban areas. This study evaluated the relationship between distance to benzene emission sources and the number
