Avian influenza scare is a human psychological factor that asserts both positive and negative effects on the transmission of zoonotic avian influenza. In order to study the dichotomous effect of avian influenza scare on disease transmission, taking H7N9 avian influenza as a typical case, a two-patch epidemic model is proposed.

Controlling novel avian influenza A (H7N9) at animal sources
BMJ, 2013Qi and colleagues reported the first probable case of human to human transmission of the novel avian influenza A (H7N9) virus.1 However, symptom guided laboratory investigations of contacts suggest that H7N9 has yet to acquire the ability to maintain sustained human to human transmission, even though …

A sandwich ELISA for the detection of neuraminidase of avian influenza A(H7N9) virus
Journal of Virological Methods, 2017Although exhibiting no or low virulence in poultry, avian influenza virus H7N9 has caused around 1400 confirmed human infections in China with a case-fatality rate of 30% since 2013. A highly pathogenic H7N9 virus (HP-H7), with the HA antigenicity distinct from the previous, were recently detected in patients and poultry.

Extra-pulmonary viral shedding in H7N9 Avian Influenza patients
Journal of Clinical Virology, 2015The clinical features of avian-origin influenza virus A (H7N9) virus infection have been extensively characterized, but viral RNA detection in extra-pulmonary samples has seldom been studied. To study shedding of viral RNA in extra pulmonary samples in patients with avian influenza H7N9 infections.A retrospective study of throat swabs, urine, fecal ...
