A robust and cost-effective approach to sequence and analyze complete genomes of small RNA viruses
Background Next-generation sequencing (NGS) allows ultra-deep sequencing of nucleic acids. The use of sequence-independent amplification of viral nucleic acids without utilization of target-specific primers provides advantages over traditional sequencing

This study performs pan‐viromic profiling of 14,529 samples from 5,710 domestic herbivores across five Chinese provinces, establishing the DhCN‐Virome (1,085,360 viral metagenomes). It reveals species/sample‐specific viromic signatures and cross‐species transmission dynamics, aiding unified disease control.

The Effect of Vaccination on the Evolution and Population Dynamics of Avian Paramyxovirus-1
Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) is a pathogenic strain of avian paramyxovirus (aPMV-1) that is among the most serious of disease threats to the poultry industry worldwide. Viral diversity is high in aPMV-1; eight genotypes are recognized based on phylogenetic reconstruction of gene sequences.

Gamma‐irradiated Newcastle disease virus: an alternative inactivated oncolytic virotherapy
To overcome biological risks associated with using live NDV as an oncolytic therapy, we developed gamma‐NDV as a safer alternative. Using a murine model for skin cancer, we show that intratumor administration of gamma‐NDV outperformed live‐NDV in terms of reducing tumor growth and improving overall animal survival. Abstract Newcastle disease virus (NDV)

We report DFSA5Az/DFSA5bio, C5‐azidoacetamide 4‐amino‐2,3‐difluorosialic acid activity‐based probes that trap influenza A viral (IAV) neuraminidases (NA) via a stabilized covalent Tyr‐sialosyl intermediate with hour‐scale reactivation. A bioorthogonal azide enables CuAAC (or one‐step biotin) tagging for activity‐dependent Western‐blot detection at ...

Isolation of Avian Paramyxovirus 1 from a Patient with a Lethal Case of Pneumonia [PDF]
ABSTRACT An unknown virus was isolated from a lung biopsy sample and multiple other samples from a patient who developed a lethal case of pneumonia following a peripheral blood stem cell transplant. A random PCR-based molecular screening method was used to identify the infectious agent as avian paramyxovirus 1 (APMV-1; a group encompassing ...

Virus shedding in co-infections of low pathogenic avian influenza virus ( H6N2 ) and lentogenic newcastle disease virus (La Sota) in Numida Meleagris [PDF]
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of a low-pathogenic H6N2 avian influenza A viral strain (LPAIV strain H6N2) on subsequent (after 3 days) vaccination with a lentogenic avian paramyxovirus serotype 1 strain La Sota (APMV-1 strain La Sota)
