Seroprevalences of specific antibodies against avian pathogens in free-ranging ring-necked pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) in Northwestern Germany

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Infectious diseases in captive pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) are well known, but there is a lack of knowledge about occurrence and distribution of pathogens in free-ranging pheasants in Germany.

Genetic and evolutionary characterization of avian paramyxovirus type 4 in China

open access: yesInfection, Genetics and Evolution, 2021
As an economically important poultry pathogen, avian paramyxovirus serotype 4 (APMV-4) frequently reported and isolated from domestic and wild birds particularly waterfowls worldwide. However, evolutionary dynamics of APMV-4 based on genomic characteristics is lacking.

An Outbreak in Pigeons Caused by the Subgenotype VI.2.1.2 of Newcastle Disease Virus in Brazil

open access: yesViruses, 2021
Newcastle disease virus (NDV) can infect over 250 bird species with variable pathogenicity; it can also infect humans in rare cases. The present study investigated an outbreak in feral pigeons in São Paulo city, Brazil, in 2019.

Genetic changes in pigeon paramyxovirus type-1 induced by serial passages in chickens and microscopic lesions caused by the virus in various avian hosts

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Research, 2018
Introduction: Genotype VI of avian avulavirus 1 (AAvV-1) has pigeons and doves as its reservoir and is often termed pigeon paramyxovirus type-1 (PPMV-1). The pathogenesis of PPMV-1 infections in poultry is largely obscure.

Avian Paramyxovirus Serotype-1 Detection from Chicken Reared in Kashmir Valley

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology, 2017
Avian paramyxovirus serotype-1 (AMPV1) infects a wide range of avian species leading to broader range of clinical symptoms. The ease of transmission has allowed the virus to spread worldwide with varying degree of virulence depending upon virus strain ...

Severe pigeon paramyxovirus 1 infection in a human case with probable post-COVID-19 condition

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections, 2023
Pigeon paramyxovirus 1 (PPMV-1) is an antigenic host variant of avian paramyxovirus 1. Sporadic outbreaks of PPMV-1 infection have occurred in pigeons in China; however, few cases of human PPMV-1 infection have been reported.

Avian Influenza Virus and Avian Paramyxoviruses in Wild Waterfowl of the Western Coast of the Caspian Sea (2017–2020)

open access: yesViruses
The flyways of many different wild waterfowl pass through the Caspian Sea region. The western coast of the middle Caspian Sea is an area with many wetlands, where wintering grounds with large concentrations of birds are located.

Isolation of a New Avian Paramyxovirus from Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus)

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1978
In 1974 an epizootic occurred among budgerigar flocks in Kunitachi, Tokyo, and a causative agent which possessed haemagglutinating, neuraminidase, and haemolytic activities was isolated from the lung of a dead budgerigar. This agent was 100 to 300 nm in diamter and pleomorphic. The width of the ribonucleo-protein was estimated to be about 20 nm.
