Effects of H-Phe-Ile-Tyr-His-Ser-Tyr-Lys-OH on passive and active avoidance behavior and on open-field activity of rats

open access: yes, 1982
The action of H-Phe-Ile-Tyr-His-Ser-Tyr-Lys-OH on the passive and active avoidance behavior and open-field activity of rats was studied after peripheral and intracerebroventricular administration.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Behavior-Based Fuzzy Control of Obstacle Avoidance for Indoor Mobile Robot

open access: yes, 2010
This paper describes indoor mobile robot covering path to avoid obstacle based on behavior fuzzy controller. The robot measures the distance to obstacle with ultrasonic sensors and infrared range sensors, and the distance is the input parameter of the ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Plasticity of ventral tegmental area disturbance during abstinence after repeated amphetamine exposure: restoration by selective activation of group II metabotropic glutamate receptors

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Background and aimsThe psychostimulant actions of amphetamine (AMPH) have been correlated with its ability to orchestrate ventral tegmental area (VTA) dopamine (DA) neuron activity states and, thus, DA release in output regions: in rats, a single ...

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Fish responses to underwater sounds depend on auditory adaptations: An experimental test of the effect of motorboat sounds on the fish community of a large fluvial lake

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Freshwater fishes exhibit a wide range of auditory adaptations and capabilities, which are assumed to help them navigate their environment, avoid predators, and find potential mates.

Advancing Behavioral Avoidance Assessment: A Refined Psychometric Framework to Measure Avoidance Behavior

open access: yes
Avoidance behavior is a central transdiagnostic coping strategy in psychopathology and contributes to the maintenance and severity of mental disorders. We present a general framework for the standardized assessment of actual avoidance behavior that may be applied to several clinical phenomena.

Rape Avoidance Behavior among Slovak Women

open access: yes, 2013
Rape has been a recurrent adaptive problem for many species, including humans. Rape is costly to women in terms of disease transmission, partner abandonment, and unwanted pregnancy (among other costs).
