Systemic acquired resistance: an emerging role for jasmonates in local signal biogenesis, translocation and distal signal decoding

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 6, Page 3142-3158, September 2026.
Jasmonate signalling underpins establishment of plant systemic acquired resistance (SAR). Activation of the hypersensitive response (HR) not only contains the pathogen but establishes broad spectrum resistance in unchallenged leaves. The strong burst of reactive oxygen/nitrogen species initiating the HR results in lipid peroxidation (illustrated by ...

A Brain‐Wide Atlas of Astrocytic Oxytocin Receptors Reveals a Glial Basis for Nucleus Accumbens Modulation of Affiliative Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 46, 17 August 2026.
The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.

Infective Endocarditis Diagnosed by Emergency Physicians Using Cardiac POCUS: A Case Series

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Volume 29, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Emergency physicians (EPs) are acquiring ever‐increasing expertise in cardiac point‐of‐care ultrasound (POCUS). We compiled this case series to demonstrate current practice by EPs diagnosing infective endocarditis (IE) using POCUS.

Open Cholecystectomy in a Patient With Situs Inversus Totalis and Symptomatic Cholelithiasis: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Situs inversus totalis (SIT) reverses normal anatomical landmarks used during cholecystectomy, requiring careful preoperative imaging, a mirror‐image surgical strategy, and strict achievement of the critical view of safety before ductal or vascular division.

Microaxial Flow Pump Support as a Bridge to Transaxillary TAVI‐In‐TAVI in Cardiogenic Shock

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT A 79‐year‐old man presented with cardiogenic shock due to severe degeneration of a prior transcatheter aortic valve. Temporary mechanical circulatory support with a transvalvular microaxial flow pump was initiated, resulting in rapid stabilization.

Intricacies in Serial Electrocardiograms in a Patient With Takotsubo Syndrome Mimicking Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Some patients with takotsubo syndrome reveal transiently features of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at imaging, particularly of the apical variety; this “pseudohypertrophy” is due to myocardial edema, and can be diagnosed by the absence of electrocardiogram evidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, and particularly a transient reduction of the ...
