Bubble-Driven Inertial Micropump

open access: yes, 2012
The fundamental action of the bubble-driven inertial micropump is investigated. The pump has no moving parts and consists of a thermal resistor placed asymmetrically within a straight channel connecting two reservoirs.

Understanding the Physiopathology Behind Axial and Radial Diffusivity Changes—What Do We Know?

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2018
The use of the diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is rapidly growing in the neuroimaging field. Nevertheless, rigorously performed quantitative validation of DTI pathologic metrics remains very limited owing to the difficulty in co-registering quantitative ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

GEOS axial booms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A booms and mechanisms subsystem was designed, developed, and qualified for the geostationary scientific satellite GEOS. Part of this subsystem consist of four axial booms consisting of one pair of 1 m booms and one pair of 2.5 m booms.

A new approach to axial coupling constants in the QCD sum rule

open access: yes, 1999
We derive new QCD sum rules for the axial coupling constants by considering two-point correlation functions of the axial-vector currents in a one nucleon state.

Three Multicenter, Randomized, Double‐Blind, Placebo‐Controlled Studies Evaluating the Efficacy and Safety of Ustekinumab in Axial Spondyloarthritis

open access: yesArthritis & Rheumatology, 2018
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ustekinumab in 3 randomized, placebo‐controlled studies in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (SpA). Studies 1 and 2 included patients with radiographic axial SpA (anti–tumor necrosis factor [anti‐TNF]–naive ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

One-Dimensional Annular Diffuser Model for Preliminary Turbomachinery Design

open access: yesInternational Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power, 2019
Annular diffusers are frequently used in turbomachinery applications to recover the discharge kinetic energy and increase the total-to-static isentropic efficiency.

Bypassing the axial anomalies

open access: yes, 2005
Many meson processes are related to the U_A(1) axial anomaly, present in the Feynman graphs where fermion loops connect axial vertices with vector vertices.
