Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Axial compression and shear behaviour of hollow brick masonry wall panels with plaster-mesh bed-joint reinforcement under summer and winter construction conditions

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal
Masonry construction in cold regions is highly vulnerable to insufficient early-age curing, which can suppress mortar hydration and weaken the brick–mortar interface, ultimately reducing structural reliability.

Performance of 3D-printed concrete columns with GFRP rebars under axial compression

open access: yesScientific Reports
3D concrete printing (3DCP) offers transformative potential in the construction industry by enabling rapid, cost-effective, and sustainable fabrication, yet its application to structural components is limited by concrete's brittleness and challenges in reinforcement integration.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Blade row interaction in radial turbomachines [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A computational study has been performed to investigate the effects of blade row interaction on the performance of radial turbomachines, which was motivated by the need to improve our understanding of the blade row interaction phenomena for further ...

X-ray observation on how axial compression stimulates tibial fracture healing

open access: yes, 2010
ObjectiveTo validate the hypothesis that there exists an optimal axial compression stress range to enhance tibial fracture healing.MethodsRabbits with a surgically induced V-shaped tibial fracture were separated into 2 main groups: the control group (C ...

Affecting the Properties of Copper–Graphene Electroconductive Composite by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the
