Axial-torsional fatigue of pultruded glass-fiber tubes

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Fatigue characteristics of the pultruded glass-fiber composites were extensively investigated experimentally. Tubular specimens with three-layer structure (mat, roving, mat) were subjected to simultaneous cyclic axial and torsional loads to initiate ...

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

Seismic Behavior of Short Concrete Columns with Prestressing Steel Wires

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2014
The seismic behavior of short circular reinforced concrete columns was studied by testing seven columns retrofitted with prestressing steel wire (PSW), subjected to combined constant axial compression and lateral cyclic load.

Axial Compressive Performance of Wood-Cored GFRP Sandwich Columns

open access: yesBuildings
Paulownia wood, as a fast-growing natural material, exhibits inherently low axial compressive strength. To improve the axial structural performance of Paulownia wood, wood-cored glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) sandwich Paulownia wood columns were developed in this study.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Research on Seismic Performance of Assembled Steel–Concrete Composite Joints in the Top Layer of Subway Station Under High Axial Compression Ratio

open access: yesBuildings
In view of the adverse effect of the failure mode of the “strong beam and weak column” at the top-layer joint of subway stations on structural seismic performance under high axial compression ratio, a novel assembled steel–concrete composite (ASCC) beam ...

Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.
