BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Comparative evaluation of implant designs: Influence of diameter, length, and taper on stress and strain in the mandibular segment-A three-dimensional finite element analysis

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2019
Introduction: Success or failure of dental implants depends on the amount of stress transferred to the surrounding bone. Increased amount of loading to the bone through implant cause failure, whereas decrease in the amount of loading to the bone causes ...

Axial Compression Prediction and GUI Design for CCFST Column Using Machine Learning and Shapley Additive Explanation

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
Axial bearing capacity is the key index of circular concrete-filled steel tubes (CCFST). A hybrid PSO-ANN model consisting of an artificial neural network (ANN) optimized with particle swarm algorithm (PSO) was proposed to reliably and accurately predict

EGFR‐STAT3 activation provides a therapeutic rationale for targeting aggressive ETV1‐positive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cotargeting EGFR and STAT3 with Erlotinib and TTI‐101 impairs both 2D and 3D growth of ETV1‐overexpressing prostate cancer cells by disrupting a self‐sustaining ETV1–EGFR positive feedback loop that promotes EGFR and STAT3 expression and phosphorylation (activation).

Correlation between axial and coronal common bile duct diameters in computed tomography: a retrospective study of 1064 patients

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine
Background The measurement of the common bile duct (CBD) diameter is essential for evaluating bile duct pathologies. The axial plane of computed tomography (CT) images is the established method for CBD diameter measurement.

Decrypting cancer's spatial code: from single cells to tissue niches

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomics maps gene activity across tissues, offering powerful insights into how cancer cells are organised, switch states and interact with their surroundings. This review outlines emerging computational, artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial approaches to define cell states, uncover tumour niches and integrate spatial data with ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.
