Analysis and Compensation of Hysteresis Effect on Electromagnetic Force in Axial Magnetic Bearings
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2023Magnetic bearings (MBs) enable the rotor to run at high speed without lubrication due to no mechanical contact. However, the inherent hysteresis of ferromagnetic materials affects the support characteristics, reducing the design performance and stability

A Novel Hybrid Axial Magnetic Bearing that Produces a Unidirectional Electromagnetic Force
2021 IEEE International Magnetic Conference (INTERMAG), 2021This paper proposed a novel hybrid axial magnetic bearing (HAMB) for a vertical system, which can produce a unidirectional magnetic force. The characteristics of the new HAMB are analyzed. When the rotor is suspended in the equilibrium position, the bias force offsets the gravity of the rotor and the current is zero, which can reduce the copper loss ...

AXIAL ELECTROMAGNETIC FORCE DENSITY IN MPD THRUSTERS
Modern Physics Letters B, 1992An MPD thruster formulation involving coupled aerothermodynamic-electromagnetic equations and including viscous effects is developed and solved. The electromagnetic force density distribution in the thruster interior is studied. Axial force densities are found to be largest on the cathode longitudinal surface.

In this paper, a novel electromagnetic negative-stiffness spring (ENSS) is constructed by coaxial permanent annular magnets and coils with rectangular cross section. The stiffness of the ENSS is negative when the coils carry exciting current. In the stiffness characterization study, the analytical model of the ENSS based on filament method is ...

Investigating the Effect of Axial Displacement of Transformer Winding on the Electromagnetic Forces
2020 7th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE), 2020The working of the electrical network mainly depends on the working of the power transformer. Several important factors of the electrical power system such as efficiency, safety, and total losses are also affected by the power transformer. One of the most important factors for the designing of the power transformer is electromagnetic forces.
