Evaluation of Electromagnetic Forces in an Axially-Magnetized MPD Arcjet Plasma

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2003
Characteristics of an axially‐magnetized plasma flow has been investigated in the vicinity of a magneto‐plasma‐dynamic arcjet (MPDA) by use of spectroscopy, Mach probes and magnetic probes. Axial and rotational flow velocity and temperature of He ion and atom near the muzzle region of MPDA are measured by Doppler shift and broadening of the HeI (λ ...

Parametric study of the axial force and negative stiffness of an electromagnetic mechanism for vibration isolation applications

INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference Proceedings, 2023
Nonlinear vibration isolators that take advantage of negative stiffness elements can provide high static stiffness to bear high static loads and quasi-zero dynamic stiffness to widen the isolation frequency band and hence are desirable for vibration isolation.

Frequency-Dependent Model and Improved Controller Design of an Axial Electromagnetic Bearing

2024 IEEE/IAS Industrial and Commercial Power System Asia (I&CPS Asia)
Axial electromagnetic bearings (EMBs) are used to support high-speed rotors against axial forces. This paper develops a frequency dependent model for an axial EMB which is typically made up of solid core.

Fast Calculation of Electromagnetic Vibration of Surface-Mounted PMSM Considering Teeth Saturation and Tangential Electromagnetic Force

IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print)
In view of the shortcomings of the existing calculation methods of electromagnetic forces, this article proposes an analytical method (AM) combining the magnetomotive force permeance method and the improved subdomain method.

Analysis of winding disk in transformer under action of axial electromagnetic forces by Green's function approach

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2010
Dynamic axial displacement of high voltage (HV) winding disk of a power transformer has been calculated by Green's function approach, when time varying axial electromagnetic forces corresponding to worst case of short circuit condition, are applied. An elaborate analysis of the axial electromagnetic forces and corresponding axial displacement of a top ...

Electromagnetic Axial Bearing With Reduced Thrust-Disc Diameter for High-Speed Machines

IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print)
Electromagnetic axial bearings (EABs) are preferred over conventional thrust bearings for their contactless and lubrication-free operation, besides longer life in supporting the rotor of an electrical machine against axial forces.

Modeling and Analysis of Radial Suspension Force in 3-DOF Active Suspension Electromagnetic System for Maglev Pump

IEEE transactions on energy conversion
A magnetically levitated (maglev) pump is a bearingless component of fluid power systems. Unlike traditional centrifugal pumps, maglev pumps require a passive reluctance force to compensate for the hydraulic forces in the axial direction. Active magnetic

Axial Active–Passive Suspension Electromagnetic System in Radial Air Gap for the Maglev Pump

IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print)
This article presents a new type of axial active–passive suspension electromagnetic system for the maglev pump. In industrial applications, the variable residual axial hydraulic force on the impeller may lead to collision and vibration, which need to be ...

The determination of electromagnetic forces in transformer windings with axial symmetry by means of a resistance network

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 1961
It is shown that the determination of the electromagnetic forces in transformer windings axial symmetry can be effected by means of a two-dimensional resistance network, with currents injected at a number of nodes. The network components are evaluated, and some comparison is given between the analogue and digital approach to the problem.
