Electromagnetic torque and force in axially symmetric liquid-crystal droplets
Optics Letters, 2008Circularly polarized light exerts torque on birefringent objects. In the case of axially symmetric particles, however, the moment of radiation force balances the direct optical torque. This explains the observation that radial liquid-crystal droplets, in contrast to planar droplets, do not spin in circularly polarized light.

Electromagnetic levitation forces and effective inductance in axially symmetric systems
British Journal of Applied Physics, 1965An analysis is developed which expresses the average electromagnetic levitation force Fx on a spherical conductor in terms of the effective inductance L of the excitation coil. This force is given by Fx = ½ I02 (∂L/∂x) where I0 is the r.m.s. coil current and x is the separation of the coil and sphere.

A novel method to improve fatigue behaviors of holed structures based on electromagnetic force
Proceedings of the Institution of mechanical engineers. Part C, journal of mechanical engineering science, 2022In this study, a novel method stress wave strengthening (SWS) process based on electromagnetic force was proposed to improve the fatigue life of holed structures. Corresponding tests were carried out to explore the fatigue performance of SWS.

Analysis of Skewing method considering 3-D Electromagnetic Force
IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation, 2022Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in motors degrade the performance and life cycle. Therefore, electromagnetic force of motor should be reduced, which affects NVH.

The measurement and calculation of axial electromagnetic forces in concentric transformer windings
Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1954An experimental method of determining the axial forces in power transformers is applied to a transformer constructed so that various tapping arrangements can be set up, and curves are given of the forces which occur with typical methods of tapping concentric windings.
